The forum will give residents an opportunity to share their thoughts, experiences, and ideas directly with the Housing Commission. The conversation will help inform the Commission’s considerations and planning moving forward.
The forum will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Native Land Conservancy, 2B Center Street, Mashpee.
The September Mashpee Wampanoag Elders Meeting originally scheduled for Saturday, September 5, has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 19.
The meeting will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Community and Government Center.
Elders meetings are normally held on the first Saturday of each month, unless otherwise announced.

The STEEP research project and the Mashpee Wampanoag Natural Resources Department invite Tribal members to participate in a community Talking Circle focused on PFAS, also known as forever chemicals.
Participants will learn what PFAS are and where they have been found in the Mashpee community. The gathering will also create space for Tribal members to help identify the best ways to share future PFAS information with the community.

The Mashpee Wampanoag Housing Commission is seeking Tribal citizens who want to help strengthen housing opportunities for the community.
Commissioners oversee important initiatives, including rental and mortgage assistance programs and the First Light Housing Development. A small group of dedicated commissioners has continued this work, but additional members are needed to help the Commission consistently meet quorum and take timely action.
Serving on the Commission is a meaningful way to support safe, stable housing and help Tribal families remain in their ancestral homelands.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Housing Commission will meet on Thursday, September 3, and Thursday, September 17. Both meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held in the Council Chambers at the Mashpee Wampanoag Government Center.
All are welcome to attend. Public comment will be open during the first half of each meeting.

Expectant Native and Indigenous families are invited to attend a supportive, interactive Childbirth Education Class on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Native Land Conservancy, located at 2B Center Street in Mashpee.
The class is designed to help expectant parents feel confident and prepared for labor, birth, and early parenthood. Topics will include pregnancy, stages of labor, breastfeeding, pain management options, birth planning, cultural practices, and postpartum and newborn care.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Education Department is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Department will offer thirteen $1,000 scholarships to Tribal members who need support for post-high school education, including trade school, undergraduate certificate programs, or undergraduate degree programs.

Tribal citizens are reminded that the 2026 Ethics Commission Election will be held on Sunday, September 13, during the General Membership Meeting.
The election will fill three vacant Ethics Commission member seats. The certified candidates scheduled to appear on the ballot are Edward Avant, Sharae Miranda, and Teddy Hendricks.
Voting will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Government and Community Center, located at 483 Great Neck Road South in Mashpee.

Weetumuw School, Mâseepee Wôpanây Katnuhtôhtâeekamuq, is a Wôpanâak culture and language school operated by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. The school supports children through Wampanoag values, language, culture, and community-centered learning.
Community members are invited to attend the Wampanoag Experience Powwow on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Round the Bend Farm, located at 92 Allens Neck Road South in Dartmouth.
Gates will open at 10:00 a.m. The gathering will be led by Annawon Weeden and a host committee and will include Native vendors, demonstrations, and performers.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Rod and Gun Club Breakfast and Trap Shoot will return on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
The monthly gathering is held on the second Sunday of each month and is open to the public. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by trap shooting from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Breakfast is $15 per plate. Trap shooting is $20 per round and includes clays and ammunition. The September breakfast will also feature a wild game side of bluefish hash.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Elders Department is organizing a shuttle for Tribal elders who would like to attend the Aquinnah Wampanoag Powwow on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
The annual Aquinnah Wampanoag Powwow is scheduled for September 12 and 13 at Aquinnah Circle in Aquinnah. Elders who are interested in riding the shuttle are asked to call Donald Peters, Elders Nutritionist at 508-477-0208 ext. 117 so the department can get a head count and plan transportation.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe began accepting LIHEAP applications effective June 15, 2026.
LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, helps eligible households with home energy costs. Tribal citizens who are interested in applying or learning more about the program may contact Marnell H. Cash in the Employment and Training Department.

The Harvard University Native American Program is inviting vendors and dancers to take part in the 28th Annual Harvard Powwow on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The Powwow will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with Grand Entry at 1:00 p.m., at the Harvard University McCurdy Outdoor Track, located at 145 North Harvard Street in Allston, next to Harvard Stadium.
