The Mashpee Wampanoag Health Service Unit is growing, and we are happy to welcome several new team members who will be caring for our people and supporting the health of our community. Jodi Moen has joined the team as a Registered Nurse, Chelsea Little as Supervisory Nurse, Shakera Headley as Nurse Practitioner, and Dr. Jaydee Marerro as Chief Dentist.
Each brings experience, a strong commitment to patient care, and a desire to become part of our Mashpee community.
Jodi Moen, Registered Nurse, brings nearly 19 years of nursing experience across home care, hospice, medical-surgical care, orthopedics, emergency room settings, travel nursing, and ambulatory clinics. Jodi earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts and describes nursing as a calling. She says she takes her commitment to patients seriously and looks forward to meeting people throughout our community. Outside of work, Jodi enjoys animals, reading, writing poetry, and meeting new people. A fun fact: she has also worked as an extra in the films Ted and The Dark Knight Rises.
Shakera Headley joins our Health Service Unit as Nurse Practitioner with more than eight years of healthcare experience. Before coming to Mashpee, she worked as a healthcare provider with Cape Cod Healthcare. Her areas of expertise include primary care, diabetes care, and osteoporosis, with an emphasis on preventive care and helping patients feel informed and empowered in their own health. Shakera holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Bradley University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions, and she is a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, singing, and reading.
Chelsea Little is our new Supervisory Nurse. She brings nursing experience and a focus on compassionate, patient-centered care while also supporting and strengthening nursing teams. Chelsea earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Regis College. Her professional interests include primary care, health promotion, and improving access to quality healthcare. She is looking forward to working with our nursing staff, collaborating with our Tribal community, and helping our Health Service Unit continue to grow. In her free time, Chelsea enjoys traveling, cooking and baking, exploring new places and cultures, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Jaydee Marerro joins our Health Service Unit as Chief Dentist. Dr. Marerro has practiced dentistry for more than 20 years and spent the past two years serving with the Indian Health Service at the White Earth Nation in Minnesota. She shared that she is excited to become part of the Mashpee community and looks forward to getting to know the people she will serve and work alongside. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and great food.
We are glad to welcome Jodi, Shakera, Chelsea, and Dr. Marerro to Mashpee and look forward to seeing the relationships they build with our patients, families, and community.
