Ethics Commission Election Timeline Continues

Tribal citizens are reminded that the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Ethics Commission election process is underway. An amended advance notice of election was issued during the June 14 General Body Meeting, and nominations were accepted for the Commission.

The next important deadline is the Sunday, July 12 General Body Meeting. Nominees must submit a letter of interest, reasons they wish to be elected to the Ethics Commission, and reference contact information by this deadline.

Community Heat Advisory and Powwow Preparedness Notice

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Emergency Management Department is advising the community to take extra precautions as dangerous heat and humidity move into the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Barnstable County, including Mashpee, from 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, through 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. Heat index values are expected to range from 95°F to 105°F, with the most dangerous heat and humidity expected on Thursday and Friday.

Indian Education Department Invites Grade 4–5 Students to Horseback Riding Lessons

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Indian Education Department is inviting Grade 4–5 students to enjoy an afternoon of horseback riding lessons on July 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Maushop Equestrian Center in East Falmouth.

Students will have the opportunity to build confidence, learn horseback riding skills, spend time outdoors, and make lasting memories with friends in a safe and supportive environment.

Education Department Requests Johnson O’Malley Applications from Tribal Families

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Education Department is asking all eligible Tribal families with school-age children to complete a Johnson O’Malley Student Application for each child.

The Johnson O’Malley Program helps support educational programs and services for Tribal youth. Information collected through the application process helps the Education Department plan for and pursue funding that can support educational enrichment, cultural programming, academic support, and other opportunities for our students.

Indian Education Department Plans Coastal Learning Trip for K–3 Students

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Indian Education Department is inviting Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students to take part in an educational field trip to the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown on July 21.

Students will spend the day learning about the marine life and coastal habitats that help make Cape Cod so special. Through hands-on learning and exploration, young students will have the opportunity to discover more about whales, seals, sea turtles, ocean ecosystems, and the importance of protecting the waters and coastal environments around us.

Sacred Parenting Classes Offered for Community Members

Community members are invited to take part in Sacred Parenting, a certified parenting class recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Sacred Parenting program welcomes parents, future parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents, and all community members who care for and help nurture the children in our community. The program focuses on strengthening families, supporting healing, honoring cultural teachings, and building healthy relationships for future generations.

Tribal Members Invited to Help Build Wet8 for Wampanoag Experience Powwow

Save the date for the Wampanoag Experience Powwow, taking place Saturday, October 17, at Round the Bend Farm, located at 92 Allens Neck Road South in Dartmouth.

The gathering will be led by Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal citizen Annawon Weeden and a host committee, with more details to be shared soon. The Wampanoag Experience Powwow will feature opportunities to celebrate and share Wampanoag culture, community, history, and traditional knowledge.

Rumble on the Rez Now Set for One Big Day on July 11

Community members are invited to come out for Rumble on the Rez 2026, now planned as a one-day event featuring two big community gatherings on Saturday, July 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Hosted with pride by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, Rumble on the Rez will bring together a live amateur boxing event and the Randy Peters Jr. Car Show for a full day of action, culture, community, and good times.
