Last month, Tribal member Diontae Tobey was offered and has accepted a position to serve as a Police Officer for the Mashpee Wampanoag Police Department. Diontae is a proud young father of a 3y.o Diontae Tobey Jr, he is the grandson of Everett Tobey Sr. and the youngest child of The Unhoused Case Worker Rochelle Tobey.
Powwow Craft Vendor Applications Open
Mashpee Wampanoag Powwow Committee is opening applications for Mashpee Tribal Member Craft Vendor Stands. Applications and full payment of $250 are due by May 2, 2025. Space is limited so the stands will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Applications can be found on the Tribal Member Portal. You may also request an application by emailing the Committee at Mashpeewampanoagpowwow@gmail.com.
Powwow Food Vendor Lottery Now Open
Mashpee Wampanoag Pow Wow Committee is opening up the lottery for one food vendor for the 2025 Mashpee Wampanoag Pow Wow. If selected you will be guaranteed a food stand for 2025 All interested inquiries should send an email to Mashpeewampanoagpowwow@gmail.com. The deadline for applications will be May 2nd and the Lottery will occur on Tuesday May 6th.
Housing Department Annual Performance Report
On an annual basis, the MWT Housing Department must publish the tribes Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) Annual Performance Report (APR) per the recommendation of the Eastern Woodlands Office of Native American Programs (E/WONAP). The IHBG funding is housings main grant that allows the tribe to provide housing assistance to eligible members of federally recognized tribes within our service areas of Barnstable County, Bristol County, Norfolk County, Plymouth County and Essex County.

1,500 Dollar Scholarships for Wampanoag Students
The Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants gives out two $1500 scholarships annually to Wampanoag students, in recognition of “the Wampanoag Nation’s assistance to our Pilgrim ancestors.” These scholarships can be used at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States. Applications are due by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 30th.

Mashpee Housing Rehabilitation Program - Applications Open
The Mashpee Housing Rehabilitation Program (MHRP or Program) provides 15-year, 0% interest, Declining Balance, Deferred Payment Loans (DPLs) for general rehabilitation and grants (up to $25,000 per unit) for lead paint reduction to owners of residential, one to four-unit properties in the Town of Mashpee. Properties must have at least one code violation to qualify for assistance. The program is funded through a Massachusetts Community Development Block Grant (MCDBG) from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing & Livable Communities (EOHLC).

Free and open to the public, the Honor the Earth Fair is co-hosted by the Native Land Conservancy and the Mashpee Wampanoag Natural Resources Department, festivities will include opening remarks by Mashpee Wampanoag Chief Earl Mills Jr., cultural crafts, traditional singing and dancing, activities for children.

This initiative, part of the Tribal Archives Preservation and University Access (TAPUA) project, will enhance access to primary source materials from Harvard and the MWTA collections.
