The Wampanoag Experience Powwow is coming up on Saturday, October 17, at Round the Bend Farm in South Dartmouth, bringing together Native vendors, demonstrations, performers, families, and community for a full day centered on Wampanoag culture and connection.
Led by Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal citizen Annawon Weeden and a host committee, the gathering will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Round the Bend Farm, 92 Allens Neck Road South in Dartmouth. Tickets are $5.
Over the past several months, Annawon has also invited Tribal members of all ages to be part of preparing for the gathering by helping build a wet8, or wetu. Opportunities like this give our families a chance to take part directly in carrying cultural knowledge forward and sharing it with the next generation.
Tribal members interested in helping with the wet8 may contact Annawon at annawonw@gmail.com. For general event or volunteer information, contact info@roundthebendfarm.org.
We hope to see plenty of familiar faces there for a good day of culture, learning, visiting, and community.
