Registration is open for the Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project’s Fall 2026 Immersion Nest classes, with opportunities for both beginning and returning learners in Aquinnah, New Bedford, Plymouth, and Mashpee.
Speaker Level 1 classes are designed for people beginning their language journey or looking for a refresher on introductions, asking questions, and the sounds of Wôpanâak. Classes are being offered in Aquinnah on Thursdays from October 1 through December 10, in New Bedford on Saturdays from October 3 through December 5, and in Plymouth on Thursdays from October 8 through December 3.
Returning learners can continue with Speaker Level 2.1 in New Bedford on Monday evenings from October 19 through December 21. Speaker Level 3 will be offered in Mashpee on Tuesday evenings from October 20 through December 22 at the WLRP Office, 11 Cape Drive, Suite 5.
These classes are another opportunity to bring our language into our homes, families, and everyday lives while learning alongside other Wampanoag community members.
Learners must be enrolled citizens, or household members of enrolled citizens, of the Assonet Wampanoag, Aquinnah Wampanoag, Herring Pond Wampanoag, or Mashpee Wampanoag communities.
