Our Tribe is full of artists, makers, culture keepers, storytellers, musicians, and creative people who carry knowledge and traditions forward in many different ways. The Tribal Historic Preservation Commission and Tribal Historic Preservation Department are encouraging our Tribal members to consider applying for the Mass Cultural Council’s 2027 Grants for Creative Individuals program.
The program provides unrestricted $5,000 grants to Massachusetts artists, culture bearers, and creative practitioners. Because the funding is unrestricted, recipients have flexibility in how they use the award to support their creative or cultural work.
This can be a meaningful opportunity for our people who are already creating, teaching, making, performing, sharing traditional knowledge, or developing new work rooted in who we are. Tribal members may also consider projects that connect with cultural programming through our Tribal Historic Preservation Department or Education Department. Our departments can help coordinate opportunities such as future craft nights or other creative spaces at the Tribal Community and Government Center when a project aligns with community cultural programming.
Applications are open now and must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Awards are expected to be announced in March 2027.
We encourage our Tribal artists and culture keepers to take a look at the opportunity and apply. Supporting our people in their creative work is another way we keep our culture strong and make sure our knowledge continues to be shared with the generations coming behind us.
