The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council rescheduled the Tribal Election for Sunday, May 16, 2021 at an Emergency Meeting last evening. The vote to move the date was unanimous by all council members present at the meeting.
In addition to the motion to move the date of the election, the Tribal Council also unanimously approved a motion to rescind an emergency election ordinance that allowed for ballots to be returned by mail.
Councilwoman Rita Gonsalves and Yvonne Avant were appointed during the meeting to serve as co-liaisons to the Election Committee. The Election Committee will be setting new protocols for the election, including polling details.
