Summer 2026 Internship Opportunity: Tribal Historic Preservation Assistant

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s Tribal Historic Preservation Department (THPD) is offering a paid Summer 2026 internship for students and emerging professionals interested in cultural preservation and Tribal governance. This opportunity provides hands-on experience supporting THPD work across several program areas, including archaeology, archives and museum operations, GIS mapping, Section 106/NEPA compliance review, and NAGPRA-related work.

The internship runs for three months. Interns will work 20–30 hours per week at $22–$26 per hour, based in Mashpee, MA, with limited remote flexibility. Preference is given to Indigenous applicants.

Eligibility and deadlines

Applicants should be current undergraduate or graduate students, or have graduated within the past 12 months of the internship start date. Applications are accepted through April 17, 2026. Selection is expected by April 30, with the selected intern notified by May 8.
