Tribal Court is honored to announce Thomas Weathers has been appointed as a Supreme Court Judge for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. Judge Weathers is an Aleut and an enrolled member of the Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska.
Judge Weathers has practiced law for over 25 years and has extensive experience in tribal law and tribal courts. He has been a tribal judge for over 10 years and has served as an appellate judge for the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe of Washington, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians of Washington, the Hoopa Valley Tribe of California, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe of Colorado, the Klamath Tribes of Oregon, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona, and the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe of Arizona.
Judge Weathers was conferred with a Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific in Sacramento, CA. He was included in The Best Lawyers in American in Native American Law (2015 to 2020). He has written numerous publications and has participated in many presentations on Indian Law. Judge Weathers was nominated as a Lawyer of Distinction by his peers.
