Race Amity Day June 8th

All are invited to join the Mashpee Inclusion and Diversity Committee for a vibrant celebration of friendship and cultural diversity at the 5th Annual Race Amity Day Festival & Picnic on Sunday, June 8, from noon to 4 PM at Mashpee Community Park.

The day's lineup includes performances by Crocodile River Music (African and African-influenced music), Bongogenesis (traditional Cuban music), Candida Rose (Cape Verdean vocal artistry), Kim Moburg (Indigenous-inspired folk music), Neesh-La Singers and Dancers (Indigenous singing, dancing and drumming), Tamora Israel (ppoken word and poetry), Oceans Eversley (photographer, painter, poet), Z.Y.G. 808 (youth hip-hop and storytelling), Da Phunkee Professor Mwalim Peters (jazz, funk and cultural commentary), and the inspiring voice of William Roberts, advocate for racial unity.

Family-friendly activities include face painting, corn hole, arts and crafts, interpretive dancing, cultural exhibits, and informational booths from local nonprofit organizations.

Complimentary pizza from Mashpee’s best pizza restaurants, free Polar Cave ice cream and other treats will be available.

This event commemorates the Massachusetts Senate's 2015 resolution designating the second Sunday in June as Race Amity Day—a day to foster friendship and collaboration across racial lines.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs, a picnic lunch (optional), and an open heart ready to celebrate community and diversity.
