Request for Mittark Submissions

At the beginning of this year, Tribal Communications services were cut back as a cost saving measure to help financially support other areas of Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal operations. This led to the removal of the printed Mittark for the time being, and limited coverage for community events hosted by the tribe. Despite these setbacks, tribal communications still continues in the forms of the weekly e-blast, website, Facebook, and online Mittark.

Granny Squannit Walk

The Youth Council hosted the annual Granny Squannit walk on November 14th. Youth enjoyed a hay ride, fall themed toys and activities, and the walk down 55 acres where they got to speak with Granny Squannit. We want to give a special thanks to the Youth Council, Liaison Talia Landry, Youth Advisory Chair Kristine Foster, Chairman Weeden, Elise Pocknett, Renee Banks and Ryan Dauphinais for their contributions that made this event possible for our community.

National Day of Mourning Held November 27th

Since 1970, Indigenous people & their allies have gathered at noon on Cole's Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the US Thanksgiving holiday. Many Native people do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims & other European settlers. Thanksgiving Day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands and the erasure of Native cultures.
