19-year-old Lawrence Hendricks jr. “Junie” “Swift Deer” is now a journeyman of Local 876 Laborers Union. Junie worked diligently, navigating his way through the Building Pathways South program. Then he completed vigorous hands-on training at the New England Laborers Training Camp in Hopkinton. He is certified in CPR/First Aid, OSHA, and has received certification in various areas of job site safety. Junie is the son of Jody Santagate and Lawrence Hendricks Sr., Brother to Mason and Xavier, and Uncle to Giavanna Francis. Junie is the great-grandson of Francis Hendricks and the grandson of the late Lawrence E. Hendricks III. Junies hard work and perseverance is a testament that when standing in the face of adversity, you must rise above. Setbacks & failures do not define any of us. You must “go high when others go low.” Junie's family and the entire tribal community are very proud of this young man.
