The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Committee are looking for a Mashpee Representative to join as a liaison.
“The BCHRAC works to protect and promote human rights in Barnstable County. We support people who come to the BCHRAC with human rights concerns, and refer them to other local, state and federal agencies. Many of these cases involve illegal discrimination, which is the unfair treatment and lack of equal opportunity afforded to residents of the County due to their membership in a protected class.
The Board meets 10 times a month. The meetings are virtual and last an hour and a half. The liaison is required to join a subcommittee. We have an Intake Committee, an Education Committee and an Events Subcommittee to name a few. They meet less frequently than the Board. These are also virtual meetings that last an hour and a half. We have two educational events a year for high school and middle school students and a celebration of the United Nations Universal Universal Rights Day.”
