Talia Landry, Education Department Grant Manger, successfully submitted a citizens petition to the town of Mashpee that calls for a town vote to transfer ownership to the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of 3 parcels of land, that make up what we know as “12 acres.”

Rob Degaetano Professional Boxing Debut
Tribal member Rob Degaetano will be making his professional boxing debut on August 4th at Polar Park in Worcester, MA. The inaugural “Punch-Out at Polar Park”- will be a thrilling showcase of New England’s finest professional and amateur boxers. Gates open at 5:00 PM and the pro card begins at 7:00 PM.
Youth Advisory Committee Seeks Members
The Youth Advisory Committee is actively seeking tribal members interested in supporting tribal youth to join the committee. The main purpose of the committee is to consult with and provide input to Tribal entities and Tribal individuals who desire such consultation in order to assist them with achieving maximum coordinated benefits for Mashpee tribal youth.
Community Healing Fire (New Date)
T.O.R is hosting a community Healing Fire on Friday, August 4th, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Powwow Grounds. The fire is open to all ages, and the event will include back-to-school giveaways, a bouncy house, and a dunk tank. Tribal Community Survey
The Natural Resources Department wants to hear from you! Take this 10-15 minute anonymous survey to help us learn about the importance of local seafood consumption and community concerns about environmental contaminants. All members of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe over the age of 18 are invited to take the survey, and everyone who completes the survey will be eligible to win a $50 e-gift card!

The tribe is hosting an Indigenous Pathways in Education workshop through the State Tribal Education Partnership (STEP) grant. Teachers, counselors, and school administration are invited to attend and learn about Indigenous peoples’ experiences within the education system and best practices to support Native youth in school.
Veterans Ride Honors Wampanoag Service
Tribal veterans were honored in the 14th annual Big Nick’s Ride for the Fallen, the largest gathering of motorcycles on Cape Cod, last month. Each year Big Nick's Ride for the Fallen memorializes USMC Cpl. Nicholas G. Xiarhos and honors all fallen veterans with ties to Cape Cod as well as all Veterans past, present, and future who serve our country.

Jasmyn Frye Competes at WKA National Championship
Tribal member Jasmyn Frye is participating in the WKA National Championship for muay thai at the Delaware State Fairgrounds. The WKA USA seeks to provide an opportunity for fighters to develop from novice class amateur fighters to open class amateurs, and then onto the professional level, through safe and competitive events.
