"I'm Alive, and I'm On My Way." Says Granny Squannit!

For centuries, Granny, our legendary trailblazer, still loves her people and comes for a week-long visit. She may be able to stay longer to Mashpee Wampanoags-People of the First Light and other folks who live here.

She whispered to me at 2:00 am yesterday for my folks to check their knees because they may move a bit, and you may not be able to find some things like money or something like that. Ancestors told us a long time ago to leave a small basket of snacks on the step for her.

Granny whispers as the wind is blowing East; I just left Moshup, the Giant in Aquinnah, to rest on the river banks. He filled his pipe with tobacco for later traveling.

One day about 40 years ago, I decided to take a walk. It was a full moon. I always enjoyed walking in the woods and down Asher's Path here in Mashpee, looking for wild berries and listening to the birds sing and animals running through the brush.

I was standing on a bank near the water, bending over. I felt a movement near my pant leg. It sent chills down my back. Suddenly, this faint female voice came from the water's edge, saying Granny was my sister. I said, yeah, right!

I could see a little old lady with hair all overhead hanging down her face. I could only see one eye. I was so scared that I ran and fell into some hay and rested. I felt weak, like something was pulling me. Yes, it was Granny with her powerful force that resonates.

A rainbow was over us. A canoe was nearby with lots of stuff. She suddenly grew as tall as me and was thin as a rail. In a ghastly fashion, Granny shrunk. Where did she go as she was telling me her story?

Oh, I know – her eye is on the Wamp land that Mashpee Commons is negotiating; they better watch out!

She has it well planned since she will be around for a week or more. Check under your bed and in your closets. If your shoe is missing, don't blame me, cuz.

"Remember, Granny's Spirit lives forever."

Thank You, Great Spirit, Dear Lord Jesus
