The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is accepting contractor bids for home maintenance and repair work at a residence on Deborah Bottles Way. The anticipated work includes windows, window trim, clapboards, and roofing.

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Natural Resources Department is seeking bids from qualified caterers to provide Traditional Wampanoag lunches for the “Native Youth in Science: Preserving Our Homeland” Summer Science Camp. Lunches will serve approximately 35–40 people per day and must be delivered to multiple locations in Mashpee and Falmouth (a detailed schedule will be provided upon contract).

The native Wampanoag people used to ease the effects of winter storms by moving their longhouses and wetus away from the coasts and burying their agricultural goods in holes they had dug in the ground.
“Our ancestors practiced emergency management principles well before our time,” said tribe member Nelson Andrews Jr., director of the Emergency Preparedness Department for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.
The Mashpee Board of Selectmen voted Monday to take part in a meeting with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe proposed for March 5. It will be the first time the tribe and the town have met since 2016, according to Selectman Andrew Gottlieb, who pushed the board to come up with a “substantive” agenda for the long-anticipated joint summit.
I was looking in my archives and what pops up is a cookbook titled “Cook Book—Mashpee Baptist Church, Mashpee, Mass.” The dedication reads: “In Loving Memory, Deacon Adolphus G. Miller—Chairman of Diaconate (1978).”
This brought to mind that 40 years ago, I loved this cookbook to pieces. I found both traditional and contemporary Wamp food recipes, flavored with wisdom that originates from our ancestors and young adults.
