DONALD PETERS
For
Tribal Council
Born to Stacy D. Peters and Gloria Cash Peters on December 31, 1959. I come from a long lineage of Mashpee Wampanoag Families such as: Peters, Sturgis, Pocknett & Tobey families.
After graduating Falmouth high school in 1978 my education continued on to Johnson and Wales Culinary Arts School in Providence R.I, and Cape Cod Community college where I studied restaurant and hotel management. I received a lot of hands on training in the kitchen when I worked at the Flume Restaurant in Mashpee. This is where I learned to prepare most of our indigenous foods by the owner and former Mashpee Wampanoag tribal chiefs Earl Mills Sr. and his sister Delscena Mills- Hendricks.
After receiving my associates from Cape Cod Community College, I became the director of nutritional services nursing facility and the kitchen manager of Cape Cod Hospital, where I was responsible for managing the budget and production of nutritional meals and special diets for over 300 patients. Currently, I oversee the Title VI tribal nutritional program. I enjoy the direct contact with tribal elders. I collaborate with Indian health services (IHS), and manage the direct caregiver program to help support out tribal members in need.
I’m a current member of the following committees: Enrollment and Housing. Both committees we’re responsible to enforce the polices & Procedures and make the best overall decisions for the well-being of our tribe. I have experienced some of the most important elements of tribal governance to assist our members.
