Increase in Covid-19 Cases in Community

image001.png

As many of you may be aware there has been a recent increase of positive Covid-19 cases within our Tribal Community.  We understand that during these difficult times while our Tribal Community is grieving through such a difficult loss, it is hard to not comfort and console one another.  As there is still continued community spread, it is critical to ensure that we are all still maintaining physical distancing, wearing face coverings and avoiding group gatherings especially with individuals outside of our immediate households..

This week alone there have been more than ten positive cases reported within our Tribal Community.  This the highest increase in positive case totals that our tribe has experienced as of yet in a single week period.  There are many individuals now in quarantine and isolation as a result.

It is critical to follow any public health guidelines that may potentially be provided through IHS or your health care provider. You may receive phone calls related to contact tracing and regarding quarantine and isolation procedures.  It is extremely important to follow through with the procedures in order to ensure that we are able to limit the potential for additional community spread.

In order to ensure that we are taking the health safety and well-being of our Tribal elder population into consideration as well during these times, vaccinations are currently being scheduled for Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Elders.  All Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal elders over 65 years old within the CHSDA should contact the Mashpee Health Service Unit (IHS) at 508-539-2561 to schedule an appointment for vaccination.

Please be sure to contact the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Emergency Management Department for any Covid-19 resource needs, including PPE, food coordination efforts and Covid-19 isolation quarters at 508-477-0208 Ext 103.
