Dear Tribal Family,

On Friday, May 11, I sent a letter to the Mashpee Board of Selectmen in response to their letter of April 18 regarding the Mashpee Wampanoag Reservation Reaffirmation Act.  It responds to the legal concerns they raised.

The letter is posted below. Simply put, we reaffirm that the legislation is consistent with the Mashpee-Tribe Intergovernmental Agreement and that the changes the Board of Selectmen propose could be counterproductive.  As is stated in our letter, we are willing and ready to find ways to allay any fears the Board of Selectmen may have and to assure that the agreements made by and to the citizens of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and the citizens of the Town of Mashpee are upheld.
