Families, educators, and community partners who work with high school teens are invited to share an exciting opportunity: registration is now open for the 2026 Massachusetts Envirothon.
The Massachusetts Envirothon is more than a competition—it’s a hands-on, team-based learning experience where students become environmental problem solvers. Student teams explore key topic areas including forestry, soils, water, and wildlife, then work together to present thoughtful solutions to real environmental challenges facing communities across the Commonwealth.
2026 Current Issue Theme
This year’s theme is: “Living Sponge Communities – Strategies for Mitigating Environmental Impacts from Stormwater.” Students will learn about stormwater impacts and how communities can strengthen resilience through nature-based and community-driven solutions.
New Offerings for 2026
The 2026 Envirothon includes several new features designed to expand access and student creativity, including:
Inclusive participation opportunities for students receiving Special Education services
A creative expression component featuring spoken word/slam poetry on environmental themes
Registration and transportation scholarships
An updated and more engaging day-of-event program to support student leadership and learning
Registration Details
Registration is open, but space is limited. Teams are strongly encouraged to register by February 13, 2026 using the 2026 Massachusetts Envirothon Registration Form (see the attached Save the Date for details).
