Tribal youth are invited to participate in an exciting community audio project being developed in collaboration with the National Park Service.
The National Park Service is providing audio equipment to help the Tribal community record a series of informative podcast episodes. The project will bring youth and elders together, with Tribal youth interviewing elders about Traditional Ecological Knowledge, Tribal history, culture, and other topics the community would like to learn more about and preserve through audio recordings.
Some episodes may be created for the National Park Service, while others can remain available exclusively within the Tribal community.
What Youth Participants Will Learn
Youth will have the opportunity to participate in training that may include:
Interview preparation and techniques
Using audio-recording equipment
Podcast editing and production
Publishing and sharing audio content
Youth participants will receive a stipend for each part of the project in which they participate.
The project is currently gathering interest before training sessions and interviews are scheduled. This is a meaningful opportunity for youth to build media skills, connect with elders, document important knowledge, and become more involved in the community.
Elders Are Also Invited to Participate
Tribal elders who are willing to be interviewed are encouraged to participate and will also receive a stipend for their time and contributions.
