Tribal citizens are reminded that the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Ethics Commission election process is continuing, with important August deadlines coming up ahead of the General Election on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
The Ethics Commission is part of the Tribe’s Code of Ethics Ordinance and is intended to support accountability, public trust, and fair enforcement of the ethics standards that guide Tribal governance.
Nominations opened at the June 14 General Body Meeting, and nominee materials were due at the July 12 General Body Meeting. Nominees were required to submit a letter of interest, reasons they wish to be elected to the Commission, and reference contact information.
The next step is certification by the Election Committee. By Monday, August 3, 2026, the Election Committee will certify nominees after confirming that letters of interest have been submitted and that satisfactory background and reference checks have been completed.
By Sunday, August 9, 2026, a list of certified nominees and their letters of interest will be distributed to the Tribal community by e-blast and posted at the Tribal Community and Government Center.
The General Election will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, for three Ethics Commission seats.
