Wôpanâôt8âtôh - Let's Talk Wôpanâak - Family Language Immersion Camp: August 3 to August 5, 2018

Come together to have family fun & learn your language! All ages are encouraged to attend this 3-Day immersion camp to challenge yourself and others to speak Wôpanâak for the day. This is a FREE event and there are 3 blocks for classes that include a variety of topics.  This Immersion Camp is open to all members of a Wampanoag household, including non-tribal partners, step-children, foster parents, etc.

We are so excited to announce WLRP Family Immersion Camp 2018.  Many thanks to the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe for hosting our camp this year at the Community and Government Center 483 Great Neck Road South, Mashpee MA.

We have space and teachers to accommodate up to 45 speakers this year. We will take applications on a first come, first served basis by mail.  You may obtain an application in person at the Mashpee Wampanoag Community and Govt. Center or electronically at WLRP.org/Events.

Applications must be mailed to WLRP, PO Box 2241, Mashpee MA 02649.

We will post a notice on WLRP.org and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s website when we are full and will notify you via email or telephone if you are accepted as a camper for this year.

Meals will be prepared by each family/camper independently except for the cookout on Saturday evening. You will want to bring along your grill, coolers, and any camping gear you will need for the weekend if you plan to camp overnight.

You may use the showers in the Community Government Center. Young children entering the community center locker rooms/showers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

NEW POLICY BY COMMUNITY REQUEST: Families with Elders and small children should feel free to lodge at home if this makes camp participation easier for the family. Campers are encouraged to remain onsite until 6:30 in the evening and should return by 9 AM the following morning.

The Language Committee and WLRP have zero tolerance for drugs or alcohol during our immersion camp.
