Derrick Charrington Gray, known professionally as Derrick Milano, is the son of Virginia and Jefferey Gray and grandson to Oswald and Dolores Cuvilje. Derrick is a Grammy award winning songwriter, artist, and creative who has collaborated on a number of songs that have topped the music charts, including “Hot Girl Summer” and “Savage (Remix)” . He has also been expanding his career outside of music, staring on reality television in Rhythm + Flow and Love & Hip Hop.
As Gray’s career continues to skyrocket, he says he wants to highlight his Wampanoag heritage more throughout his work. “I'm part of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, and that’s something I want to highlight more. My grandfather is in his 80’s, and carrying on his legacy means everything to me. I want to bring music opportunities to Native American Communities — whether it’s building studios on reservations or creating workshops for Indigenous artists to learn about the industry. Giving back and making sure every part of my identity is represented in what I do is important.”
