Cameron Cash, son of Phillip Earl Stanton Cash and Jessica Raposa and grandson of Mashpee Wampanoag Medicine Man Earl Guy Cash Jr. and Marnell Stanton Cash, is set to run the Tarzan Brown Mystic River Run on Sunday, November 2nd in Mystic Connecticut. Cameron comes from both the Mashpee Wampanoag and Narragansett Tribes. The road race has special significance because it is in honor of Narragansett long-distance champion runner Tarzan Brown.
Brown was a two-time Boston Marathon champion, and United States Olympian. Running barefoot along the roads of Rhode Island and the trails around his home, his natural speed and endurance made him a standout athlete from a young age. His legacy continues to inspire Native and non-Native athletes alike.
The road race is 5 miles and takes place along the mystic river. Tribal members are encouraged to attend to support Cameron as he runs. The race will take place on Pearl St in Mystic, CT beginning at 1:00 PM. Good luck Cameron, your family is very proud of you!
