Honoring Our Mashpee Wampanoag Graduates

High School Graduates

Altus/Audeo Charter School, San Diego, CA:

Brie “Bright Feather” Jonas, daughter of Steve and Barbara Jonas, graduated Summa Cum Laude and will be attending Michigan State in the Fall to study veterinary medicine. 

 

Bourne High School on June 1:

Cape Cod Academy, Oysterville on May 23:

Jarren Blake will be attending Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston in the Fall.

 

Elite Academic Academy in Temecula, CA on June 13:

Eliana Hellon- Eliana Hellon, great-great-granddaughter of Pearl Hammond Coombs, great-granddaughter of Alice Hammond Coombs, and granddaughter of Deanna Marie Santos will graduate as salutatorian with a 4.5 GPA. Eliana will attend the University of Southern California in the fall.

 

Map Academy Charter School in Plymouth, MA

Jada Devine, great-granddaughter of Carol Lopez, will graduate with a focus in the culinary arts in the fall. After graduation, Jada plans to attend a culinary school in New York to further her education.

 

Mashpee High School on June 1:

Silas Bailey, son of Skye Hendricks and grandson of the late Martin “Bruzzy” Hendricks; Cameron Mills-Coan, daughter of Jennifer Mills; Mark DeNardo Jr., son of Alicia Pells DeNardo will attend Cape Cod Community College in the Fall; John Myers; Quinton Medwar.

College Graduates

 

Ashley Armano, daughter of Shawna Armano (Turner) and Domenic Armano, graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell on May 11 with a Bachelor of Science and Biology Degree 

 

Alyssa Harris, daughter of Gordan and Judy Harris earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in interior design from Suffolk University on May 19.

 

Alisha Johnson graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Nursing Degree on May 23.

 

Christian “One Who Walks with Stars” Alexander Jonas, son of Steve and Barbara Jonas, will graduate with distinction (4.06 GPA) from Stanford University on June 16 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, and a Masters in Computer Science. 

 

Shyla Mattos-Fernandes, daughter of Karen Snowflake Frye-Mattos, graduated from Cape Cod Community College on May 23 with a degree in Visual Arts.

 

Scarlett "Morning Butterfly" Miller a member of the Tri-Alpha National Honor Society, graduated from Stonehill College on May 19 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a dual minor in Criminology and Philosophy. Scarlett is the granddaughter of Kitty Hendricks-Miller and will be attending Central Connecticut State University in the Fall.

 

Dasia Peters graduated Cum Laude from Bridgewater State University on May 11 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in Indigenous Studies. Dasia served as the Secretary of the Indigenous Cultural Association at Bridgewater and received the Impact Award for outstanding student leadership. Dasia is the daughter of Jermaine Peters and Jessica Souza.

 

Alexandra Pocknett, daughter of Buddy and Renee Pocknett, graduated Cum Laude from Bridgewater State College on May 11 earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

 

Madas Strickland graduated from Sampson Community College in Clinton, NC on May 9. She received an Associate Degree in Nursing. Madas is the daughter of David and Shelly Pocknett.

 

Marissa Sylvia graduated on May 17 with her master’s in nursing from Simmons University in Boston.

 

Daniesha Tobey-Richards graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Master’s degree in Public Policy.
