The Native Land Conservancy is holding an Earth Day celebration at the Community and Government Center featuring exhibitors and vendors with a shared mission to protect and preserve the ancestral homelands of the Wampanoag. Free and open to the public, the Honor the Earth Fair is co-hosted by the Native Land Conservancy and the Mashpee Wampanoag Natural Resources Department, festivities will include opening remarks by Mashpee Wampanoag Chief Earl Mills Jr., cultural crafts, traditional singing and dancing, activities for children.
The Taste of the Earth cooking contest will also be held during the day featuring Elspeth Hay of the WCAI Local Food Report. Taste of the Earth invites local novice foodies to restaurant chefs to compete for a first place prize of a hand crafted pot by Wampanoag artisan and NLC Founding President Ramona Peters. Cooks of every skill level are invited to participate in the Taste of the Earth (TOTE) culinary competition.
