MMIW Event May 5th

An event to honor and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous People will take place at the Community and Government Center on Sunday, May 5th from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM. The event will include singing, drumming, dinner, speakers, resource tables and an open mic. If you are the family of a missing murdered Indigenous person who you would like to honor at the event, please contact Jadyn Henderson at jadyn.henderson@mwtribe-nsn.gov.

Annual Herring Day April 17th

The tribe’s annual Herring Day celebration will take place on Wednesday, April 17th from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Mashpee Indian Museum. All tribal members and their families are welcome to attend. The event will include family fun activities, fishing, singing, dancing, herring ceremony, and more.

Community Healing Fire

Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) will be hosting a community healing fire on Friday, April 19th from 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM at the Community and Government Center. All community members are welcome to attend. For more information, please contact Naomi Frye at 508- 477-0208 Ext. 139

AmeriCorps 2024 Recruitment

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Public Health AmeriCorps Program is currently seeking 6 self-motivated Enrolled Tribal Members between the ages of 18-28 to commit FULL Time for 10 Months (1700 hours) of service opportunities within the Mashpee Wampanoag Community and surrounding communities. 

Health Insurance Enrollment Event

The tribe has teamed up with the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and Islands to do a Health Insurance Enrollment at the Community and Government Center once a month. There will be trained navigators to assist tribal members in one-on-one meetings with applying, shopping and enrolling in a health insurance program.

Lopez Family Reunion Set for July 5th-7th

A Lopez family reunion will be held in Mashpee on July 5-7, 2024.  The “main branches” of the Lopez family tree (all of which are no longer with us), were: Alden “Ped”, Arlene “Tip”, Frank “Hurc”, Helen, Mary, Vernon “Bunny”, Vincent “Cuddy”, Wilfred “Spike” or “Lumps” and William “Billy”.  The family is hoping to reach as many descendants as possible,
