A monument in Mashpee will be dedicated to all 252 men and women from Mashpee who served in all our nation’s wars from the Revolutionary War to Vietnam, including the names of 21 who never returned, giving the ultimate sacrifice. It is believed that this will be the only monument in the country that will contain the actual names of Native-Americans from one town that fought and sacrificed in all of America’s wars.
The dedication will take place on Saturday, June 17th with a parade and ceremony at the monument’s location in Community Park, across from town hall. The parade will start behind town hall at 10:00 a.m. and proceed down Route 130 to Great Neck Road North to Collins Lane and into the park. The ceremony at the park’s gazebo will begin at the close of the parade and at the end of the ceremony, all will be invited to proceed to the monument for its unveiling.
All are invited to join in the dedication of this special monument to honor all from our community who sacrificed and served our country.
