The Education Department is looking for 2-4 tribal youth to become a Herring Ambassador. This program, offered through the Bioneers and facilitated through the Education Department, will give youth the knowledge, resources, and more to accomplish the task of solidifying Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Right of Nature to protect the herring. Students will put together a social media campaign to signify the importance of herring and why they need their rights advocated for.
Ambassadors will meet virtually for one hour once a week for nine weeks and a fellowship stipend of $599 will be paid to all student participants at the end. Students will need to create a social media campaign, do traditional grassroots organizing, and learn about the intersection of environmental and Federal Indian Law. There will also be a Cultural Exchange taking place in Alaska from March 25th - April 1st.
Call or text Talia Landry with any questions at 774-208-1455. Interested youth are asked to complete this form ASAP:
