Youth Sobriety Powwow Returned Last Month

After pausing for several years, tribal youth were able to come back together and share the Youth Sobriety Powwow with the community. The traditional sounds, vendors, food and activities at the annual homecoming in July were present last month at the Tribe’s Powwow Grounds. The powwow was organized by Powwow Princess Amiyah Peters, who felt it was essential to continue the tradition of promoting sobriety to our youth.

Head dancers Ivy Machado and Wesley Greendeer danced hard and led the community around the circle. In addition, the powwow featured a performance of eastern social songs led by the Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers.

Special thanks to all of the Tribal Youth who attended and Powwow Princess Amiyah Peters for organizing the event this year.
