Nutus8ees Dasia Peters. Nuwtomas Maseepeeut kah nutay Maseepeeut. My name is Dasia Peters. I am from and I live in Mashpee. I am the daughter of Jermaine Peters and Jessica Souza, Granddaughter of Randy Peters Jr. and Nadine Costa, and Great Granddaughter of Natalie Costa and Aneba Costa, Randolph G. Peters Sr. and Charlotte Johnson.

Growing up I have always been a proud and active member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. I am a traditional style dancer and was taught at an early age the importance of family, culture, traditions, and our ancestral lands. I love Mashpee and the community within it.

Currently, I am a student at Bridgewater State University studying communication studies with a focus in film and media. I take my education very seriously, and over the years I have consistently made the honor roll and dean's list. I enjoy keeping up with tribal news and events, and through my work in film I have been able to actively serve our community.

For fun I love to spend time with my friends and family, swim at the pond, and I’m also someone who loves to learn. I am excited to go on the powwow trail this year and learn more about other indigenous peoples of North America.

Some goals I have for this year are to: provide support and awareness in the fight against drug addiction/substance abuse, encourage the study of Wôpanâak language within our community, and promote higher education.

I know that this upcoming year will present numerous opportunities to grow individually, learn more about native cultures, and become a role model for my peers and youth within the community. I am honored and excited to represent my tribe in the role of powwow princess.

Kutâpatôtamawush (Thank you),
Dasia Peters
