Storm and Land Update from Chairman

I wanted to share important news on our land and safety information about the approaching significant winter storm.

We will likely get 18-24 inches of snow tomorrow. Our Emergency Management Department is organizing volunteers to assist with storm cleanup. To volunteer, please call Nelson at 508-477-0208 ext. 103. We will open our Community and Government Center as a warming station if there’s a wide-scale power outage. We will have ongoing communication posted on our website, email, and automated calls to keep our tribal community safe.

Tribe Mourns the Passing of Respected Elder and Clan Mother, Amelia Bingham

Amelia Grace (Peters) Bingham died Monday, December 20, 2021, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth at the age of 98. A beloved family matriarch and respected Elder of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, Amelia was the Clan Mother of the Turtle Clan. In addition to being an extraordinarily loving wife and mother amongst many other things, Amelia was a dedicated and fearless advocate for the preservation of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe historically, culturally, and politically.
