On April 22, members of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, the Truro Historical Society and Cape Cod National Seashore will host a gathering at 10:00 AM in front of Highland House Museum, North Truro.

After introductory remarks, Clan Mothers and the Medicine Man will bless the land where the wetu will be located, and tribal member Annawon Weeden will describe the meaning of the wetu that he will be constructing. Song and dance will also take place, and all are welcome to attend.

 Members of the “woodchuck” group of Friends of Cape Cod National Seashore will help to prepare the site after the blessing. Parents, children, and members of the public are encouraged to bring large and small spades to join in the action. The event is free and open to the public.

On June 3 the completion of the wetu will be celebrated with Wampanoag song, dance, speeches, food and more. Save the date!
