Bioneers presents Rights of Nature & Tribal Sovereignty Workshop with Mashpee Wampanoag and Ho-Chunk led discussions. The workshop, held April 15 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, focus on how rights of nature laws can protect indigenous lands. Speakers will include Danielle Greendeer, David Greendeer, Samantha Skenandore and Alex Bunten. The event will be held in person at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Community and Government Center and over zoom.
Rights of Nature (RoN) is a movement to protect land and natural resources for generations to come by bestowing legal personhood to nature.
Tribal Nations are uniquely positioned to lead the Rights of Nature movement and take efficient steps to protect lands and communities by exercising their inherent sovereignty as a political entity.
Come and engage in an Indigenous-led discussion on strategies to develop Rights of Nature laws in Tribal governments and courts.
A traditional lunch will be provided by Sherry Pocknett’s Sly Fox Den Catering.
