Tribal Citizens Nominated For 2024 Native American Music Awards

The ZYG 808 and Mwalim DaPhunkee Professor have been named top nominees for the 2024 Native American Music Awards.

The ZYG 808, a rising force in alternative hip-hop and rhythm & blues, has earned a nomination in rhythm & blues for his tracks “Shaman” and “Freakshow.” The ZYG 808’s latest solo album is ”Build/Destroy.”

Mwalim DaPhunkee Professor, a, icon in the region’s music and theater scene, is a top contender in blues for his songs “A Party at the Crossroads” and “A Sweet Memory.” His solo album, “Thunderchild,” is a soulful journey through life and culture.

The Mashpee Wampanoag artists are members of the multi-Grammy Award-nominated soul-funk band The GroovaLottos and have been on an extensive tour since May, bringing their solo projects to fans around the United States and Canada.
