January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. What is human trafficking? Human Trafficking is modern-day slavery, a criminal activity in which traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to control victims for purposes of commercial sex acts or labor services against their will. There are more Slaves now than in any time in history.
Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Victim Services is pleased to announce a new Partnership with Cape Cod PATH, whose mission is to ELIMINATE HUMAN TRAFFICKING ON CAPE COD BY RAISING AWARENESS THROUGH EDUCATION, OUTREACH, AND COLLABORATION. We will be working with Janice Hank, Chairperson and Lois Hirschberg, Treasurer to provide Crime Prevention Education & Training to MWT Students, Youth and Adults. PATH’s task force members/30+, are trained through collaboration with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, as speakers on Human Trafficking.
Join Cape Cod PATH (People Against Trafficking Humans on Cape Cod) for a candlelight vigil to recognize the estimated 40 million people currently trafficked in modern-day slavery. Slavery exists everywhere across the globe, including on beautiful Cape Cod. The Vigil will be held virtually on Sunday, January 10, 2021, 4:00-5:30 PM.
