Vice Chairwoman Baird was notified on January 15 that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of Attorney General Maura Healey is awarding the Tribe a grant in the amount of $99,102.92 for the Tribe’s mission to provide culturally relevant opioid treatment to tribal citizens battling the disease..

The funding from the State is part of a recent settlement that resolved allegations that a Massachusetts mail order pharmacy failed to implement adequate safeguards against unlawful and dangerous dispensing of controlled substances.

Grants from the settlement were issued in varying amounts up to $100,000. The maximum grant period is two years.
