Daycia "Red Dawn" Frye

My name is Daycia “Red Dawn” Frye, the 2018-2019 Mashpee Wampanoag Powwow Princess, former Little Miss Wampanoag. I attend Dennis-Yarmouth high school where I will be entering my senior year this fall. I’m a member of the national honors society and key club as well as the volleyball, golf team and orchestra at my school. I’m 16 years old and my life long goal has been to obtain a major in marine biology in college. I am the daughter of Alycia Larson and David Frye and Jonathan Thompson. I love to travel and experience other cultures to expand my understanding of the world. My goal this year consists of raising awareness of murdered and missing indigenous women - an ongoing problem. I also hope to also bring attention to the importance of the damage being done to our natural resources. I aspire to be a role model for the youth in our community that need assistance in achieving their own goals. I’m thankful to be given the opportunity to positively and respectfully represent the people of the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe.
