Mashpee Wampanoag Pow Wow committee will be accepting bid proposals for trash and parking for this years powwow. Bids must be received by no later than 06/07/2024 at 4:00 PM.

The FBI was contacted when a cyber-attack shut down tribal communications and compromised data crippling all departments and services to the tribe on Friday, April 19 at 7:30 am. The attack targeted the Finance Department but ultimately hit all internet servers.

Hoping this message finds you all well and that everyone is having a safe and enjoyable weekend. After much reflection, I have decided to step down from my position as the Director of Emergency Management for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

Calling all Future Tribal Environmental Scientists!

Native youth entering grades 5-8, who are interested in learning about the environment that sustains us all, and the traditional scientific knowledge that is within us all, are invited to attend Preserving Our Homelands Camp 2024!

The annual Rumble on the Rez event will take place on Saturday, August 3rd from 12:00 PM - 5:00PM on Powwow Grounds. Rumble on the Rez aims to raise awareness about the battle against substance abuse and provide resources to support those in need.

The Mashpee community celebrated the opening of a traditional exhibit in the Quashnet School courtyard called “13 Moons” in May. The exhibit featuring a wetu, a garden, and educational panels was the culmination of two years of work by students at the school and staff of the tribe’s education department under the direction of Cultural and Outreach Coordinator Darius Coombs.

A career and resource fair will be held at the Community and Government Center on Monday, June 10th from 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM. There is also an option to attend virtually. The fair will focus on connecting attendees with opportunities in STEM, renewable energy, and utility professions.

The tribe has teamed up with the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and Islands to do a Health Insurance Enrollment at the Community and Government Center once a month. There will be trained navigators to assist tribal members in one-on-one meetings with applying, shopping and enrolling in a health insurance program.

On Saturday, May 11th Chairman Weeden was reelected to serve on the Mashpee School Committee. He has served on the committee since 2021 and received 1,444 votes securing his spot for another term. Congratulations Chairman!

Official registration for the Sunday, August 18 race has closed however a limited number of entries are available to Mashpee Wampanoag tribal members. Runners will be responsible for paying a $117 registration fee or seeking sponsorship. Anyone interested in running on the Wampanoag Road Runner roster must register no later than June 10.

The Common Counsel Foundation and Native Americans in Philanthropy have opened the Native Voices Rising 2024 grant cycle. Since its inception, Native Voices Rising has disbursed over $12.5 million in grants to more than 235 Native-led grassroots organizations.
