Tribal members were invited to the Massachusetts Senate last month where they spoke with Senator Susan Moran. Mashpee Wampanoag artists Robert Peters, Natasha Frye, Hartman Deetz, and Nelson Andrews Jr. also had the opportunity to have their artwork on display in the Senate gallery. Their art will continue to be displayed until mid-February highlighting the artists’ personal journeys and tribal connections. The Red Hawk Singers also were in attendance and preformed an honor and travel song for the reception. The event was a great opportunity to have Wampanoag voices heard on the state level. Kutâputush Senator Moran.
