Job Opportunities at La Plaza Del Sol: Tribe Aims to Open Shelter this Winter

The Tribal Council finalized the La Plaza Del Sol purchase on October 31 and is now working to open the doors as early as February of this year. The new housing will provide immediate housing to homeless tribal members and affordable housing options on the Tribe’s ancestral homeland.

“This is our homeland,” said Vice Chairman Carlton Hendricks. Due to unaffordable housing, low housing stock, and rise in unemployment- “We’ve been forced to find housing off-Cape.”

“We hope to see the property up and ready as soon as possible, with a potential opening as soon as February. We’re working diligently to get there” said Hendricks.

Secretary Cassie Jackson and Councilman Domingo Tiexeira have been working effortlessly alongside Vice Chairman, assisting with oversight and staffing to remediate and rehabilitate the property.

The Tribe seeks to immediately fill several positions supporting homeless and sober living operations. Those positions include a Men’s Recovery Residence Manager, Shelter Program Assistant, and a Shelter Manager.
